Hands On Sims 3 Pets

in Pets, Sims 3 Expansions

I’m at E3 with KmartGamer and had some downtime today–not much–and I had the chance to have some hands on time with Sims 3 Pets.

I know! PETS!

Was it everything I had hoped and expected?

Well, yes.

I didn’t go any further than character creation and in that creation I played with the pony, which was already created.

With the horse, from what I saw, you have five different “breeds” to choose from; I picked the Paint since we used to breed them when I was little.

You not only get to chose the dominate pattern but you also get to pick an accessory pattern and both can be colored in whatever way you want. Mane and tail color are independent of the main color of the horse.

I was able to pick the “seat” of the horse, meaning Western or English and customize said saddle.

From what I saw, the let’s-customize-every-freakin’-detail has been minimized and while you’re still able to customize to your heart’s desire, it’s not as overwhelming as it was in Sims 2.

I know you’re wondering what the heck I’m talking about but when you actually see it, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Yeah, you can customize color and you can customize pattern but, from the limited experience I had today, I didn’t see me being able to add fetlock feathering but, since I chose a Paint and not a Draft cross–if that’s even available–I don’t know if you can customize to that level.

Basically, what I saw today was a horse…which looked awesome…and a couple of seconds with a cat that looked much like a cat looked in Sims 2.

I did ask if a new town will be included in Sims 3 Pets and while I didn’t get a confirmation, I did get a, “You’ll just have to wait and see…” response, which, for me, means we’ll get a new town. Don’t quote me on that but that’s what it seemed like.

Will I be pre-ordering Sims 3 Pets?

Hell. Yes.

I have an hour of time with EA tomorrow from 2-3 PM PST and I plan on getting all of my questions, and your questions, answered. Hopefully.

Check back tomorrow. I hope I’ll have some exciting news for you.

Just so you know, my travel and accommodations were provided by KmartGamer and Sears but my opinions are my own.
