I’m installing Generations as I type this and I’m getting that familiar fluttery feeling in my stomach; I get it every time I install a new expansion.
A couple of things to note:
- Your game’s going to do an update and there’s a chance it’s going to take a minute or two.
- If you jumped on the bandwagon and downloaded the now recalled patch, I suggest you revert back if it hasn’t already screwed your game. From what I’ve read, if you’re only running the base game then you’re likely safe but if you have anything else in the mix then sucks to be you.
- If you’re running AwesomeMod, you’ll probably see these two warnings:and then this one:
The reason for these is you’re running an old version of AwesomeMod. As of right now, there isn’t a new version of AwesomeMod to go along with Generations; it won’t take long for one to released. You can get the AwesomeMod Updater here. [Note the “Future features- Town Life Stuff support (v2.7, 07/26/2011)- Pets support (v2.8, 10/25/2011)”] That will check for new versions of the hack so you don’t have to go looking. I still get AwesomeMod the manual way and you’ll find the AwesomeMod download here. Until a new AwesomeMod is released–And be patient, people! Generations just came out!–just go ahead and delete the old version.
- Get rid of your custom content. Actually, just grab your mods and move them to your Desktop. Once the fixed patch comes out, move your mods in one-by-one to make sure your game doesn’t crash. I know it’s a pain but this way is a heck of a lot easier than dumping ALL of your custom content into the game and then having to puzzle out what’s causing the crash.
I’ll post some screens and maybe some video once I get everything squared away. If you have Generations, hope you have a blast. If you don’t have it yet, I’m sorry.
