How Do I Pick Just One?

in Sims 3 n00b

I’m having a hard time sticking with one Sim. I like Create a Sim. It’s fun, and I haven’t even played with custom content yet (and I can’t wait). I greatly enjoy trying on different hairstyles and eyeballs and all of that sort of thing. I like the shoes too. GREAT shoes, and I hear that I can get better ones if I go custom, no?

I’m on my fourth Sim this week and I think I’m going to play him for awhile. My first three were women, and the crazy one was fun, but all that talking to herself got old pretty fast.

New guy is fascinating to me though. First, well, he’s a guy. Second – I think Amy wrote about this before – but it seems to me that it is much easier for guys to make friends and hook up in this game. Am I wrong? I am also really digging that this guy is on a career path of athletic glory. As a huge sports fan, this is fun. As someone with virtually no athletic skills, I’m having a blast with it.

I do have a question for all of you who have been playing this game for awhile. How do you decide to stick with a Sim? Do you just play one Sim or family for quite some time? Are you constantly switching things up? Help a newbie out.

I used to do the same thing when I first started playing Sims 3.

I would create one Sim, play it for a little while and then make another one. Eventually, I just settled on whichever Sim seemed the most interesting to me.

Before I had to reinstall my game, I played a guy from Adult to old age – only the second time I’ve done that. Once he and his NPC wife had kids – they had six – and the kids aged up to where they could move out, I moved the two oldest kids out and played them for a while.

I think when you find “the right one”, you’ll know it. 😉

Thanks, that is great advice. Just like real life, eh? I have to keep searching for “the one.” Haha. 🙂

I used to have a lot of trouble sticking with the one sim/family. What I do now is I play a bastardised version of the Legacy Challenge from Sims 2, but I twist it to make it fun for me. 🙂

Custom clothes are amazing, and I would also recommend trying Sims with different skin colours. My current sim family is blue! Well they were until one of them started having kids with a dark coloured sims – apparently blue is recessive! (If you guys could look into the genetics side of the sims that would be awesome!)
